هيا بنا نتشاءم - ١٠ اسباب تجعلنا نفكر في الهروب من مصرنا

بدأت اراجع نفسي في تفاؤلي الزائد منذ الثورة فارتأيت (مثل لم اكن انتوي!!!!) ان اثوب الي عقلي واتشائم بعض الشئ لسببين: اولهما حين هزتني مظاهرة المائتين في ماسبيرو فتخيلت النظام اياه عائد ففكرت ان امسك عصاتي من المنتصف وثانيهما انه من الحكمة ان اكتب مقدمة قد احتاجها ان احتجت ان اكون من المتحولون يوما!!! جلست الي نفسي ووجدت بسهولة ١٠ اسباب تدعو للتشاؤم الشديد

١. لدينا مجلس عسكري يبدو انه جاد في عدم رغبته في الحكم والظاهر انهم فعلا متقبلين ان يستلم منهم رئيس مدني منتخب. هو نفسه المجلس الذي اختفي نسبيا من اعين الاعلام في الاسبوعين الماضيين ولكن من باب التشاؤم دعونا نعمل نظرية المؤامرة ونقول انهم لابد وانهم يخططون لشئ مريب!!! اظن ممكن نفكر هكذا كما عودنا نظامنا البائد الذي بدأت وحشته تملأ قلوبنا

٢. قمنا بثورة شديدة الاحترام والغريب فيها او المذهل انها ثورة شديدة الالتزام بالقانون والدستور فلم نشهد فيها سحل لايقونات النظام الذي اسقطته مثلما حدث في رومانيا مثلا. ثورة بيضاء الي حد النصاعة تحاسب بالقضاء وتنتظر في صبر ثأر شهداءها

٣. المفاجأة اننا اصبح لدينا رموز لنظام افسد حياتنا في انتظار المحاكمة علي ما اقترفوه في حقنا. اسباب التشاؤم هنا قد تكون ان قضاياهم خيالية بعض الشئ باعتبار ان آثامهم كانت من ضروب الخيال حتي تعجز كاتبة هاري بوتر عن كتابة واقع ما اقترفوه. لعلنا نبدأ في التشكيك في القضاء ان كنا مازلنا نظن ان مايحدث علي سبيل الحلم،ممكن برضه نعمل كده علشان مانفرحش قوي

٤. لدينا شعب اتي بجديد علي العالم المتحضر الذي دوما نتطلع ونصبو لأن نكون مثله حين ادار شئونه الامنية دون شرطة لمدة طالت فعبرنا فترة باقل كم من الخسائر لم يكن اكثرنا تفاؤلا يحلم ان تمر هكذا. نعم حدثت بلطجة وجرائم غير معتادة لكن استحلفكم الله هل ما حدث يتناسب مع واقع الغياب البوليسي او مع ما نتشدق ونصرح به عن الحضيض الاخلاقي للشعب المصري؟ اي حضيض في شعب لا يستطيع ظالم الان الا ان يصفه بالتحضر

٥. لدينا رئيس وزراء مهذب وخفيض الصوت يعمل بدأب من اجل بلد يعشقها. ولكنه كما لم نتعود ممن في منصبه حتي اننا نخاله ضعيف بعض الشئ. فهو حين يخطئ يحاول ان يصلح خطأه ونحن الذين تعودنا العناد وتحليل الاخطاء وهو الذي يتفاوض دون تنازل عن هيبة الدولة وفي الوقت ذاته يستجيب لاصوات الصعيد التي عانت الامرين من الضيم

٦. لدينا وزراء يعملون ؛ فهذا وزير خارجية يستعيد ٤ معتقلين من بين فكي نظام سوري غاشم والادهش انه يستعيد مصري من ايدي قوات القذافي. وهو نفسه يقف في وجه اسرائيل التي تتقدم لاول مرة من ٣٠ سنة باحتجاج رسمي ضده وهو الذي يلوح بكارت ايران لتفيق دول الخليج علي واقع ان الزعيمة والام عادت: مصر رجعت يا ولاد
وزير عدل كهل ولكنه قوي لا يخاف ويصرح بما نريد ان نسمعه ويطالبنا ان لا نكل في طلب حقوقنا ووزير مالية لديه مصائب ولكنه مستمر في حلها ولا كلمة في خطابه بها يأس ووزير قوي عاملة يتحدي اتحاد عمال فاسد باع نفسه سنين في سبيل حماية نظام حلل للقائمين عليه من "العمال" الاغتنام وهم يتشدقون بشعارات جار عليها الزمن

٧. لدينا سلفيين لا يحتاجون منا مساعدة في كشف سوء مقاصدهم وتخويف اغلبية شعب لا تحب سوي الوسطية. هم موجودون ولهم الحق في قول مايؤمنون يه وهذا احد مساوئ الديموقراطية التي نباغها والتي لا يحق لاحد فيها ان يحجر علي رأي وان تتطرف. ان كشفهم عن نواياهم يجعل الوسطيين منا مستعدين لمواجهتهم بدلا من ان نفاجئ بنواياهم بعد ان تقع الفاس في الراس والحمد الله انهم لم يلجأوا لمبدأ التقية الشيعي فاخفوا ما يضمرون. وجودهم يوكد اننا لن نكون ابدا ايران او افغنستان كما يريدنا البعض ان نظن ويجعانا ندرس ونتدارس اندونسيا وتركيا عن كثب

٨. لدينا فصيل اسلامي وسطي متعلم ومثقف اسمه الاخوان المسلمون يفهم لعبة السياسة ويمارسها؛ نعم يفاجئوننا من الحين للاخر بمواقف تقلقنا ولكنهم في الوقت ذاته يحاولون خطب ود الجميع والانصات وحسبان رد الفعل والتعقل فيما يصرحون. والاهم من ذلك ان بداخلهم شباب كان جزء اصيل في ثورتنا واتجاهتهم معتدلة وعقلانية ومتفتحة دون شطط ؛ اليس الاجدي والاجدر بنا ان نناقشهم بدلا من الشجب الذي تعودناه سنين وان نلتمس لهم عذرا انهم في دائرة ضوء مازالت تغشي اعينهم التي اجبرت سنين علي التخفي في الظلام

٩. لدينا اقلية قبطية محترمة ومتعلمة غارقة في حب مصر وغير يائسة هي احد دعائم هذه البلد وابدا لن يجور عليها احد لأنهم اصحاب وطن وجزء من نسيجه؛ هم يحتمون بنا ونحن نحتمي بوجودهم في ان تظل مصر هي البلد الذي ترعرنا فيه علي ان  الدين لا يفرقنا. مطلوب منهم فقط الا يستضعفوا انفسهم او يقللوا من اسهاماتهم في بنيان هذا الشعب وان يقفوا ايجابيا في وجه مالا يرتضيه احد مع باقي المصريين... يعني بالعربي الفصيح مطلوب منا جميعا ان نكون مصريين ومؤمنين

١٠. اخيرا اصبحنا محسودين من عالم يريد ان يركب موجتنا: فهذه امريكا دربت الثوار وهذه ايران باركتهم وهذا حزب الله كان معهم قلبا وقالبا والسعودية مولت الاسلاميين... هذر وكلام فارغ عن ثورة عجزوا جميعا عن مجاراتها فاخذوا الان يحاولون نسبها لانفسهم بعد ان وجدوا انها من اسباب التيه والافتخار

بصراحة اسباب جعلت صدري ينقبض واتشاءم مما هو قادم  فكيف اتفاءل وانا اري شعب استعاد بعد دهور ارادته وبدأ اولي خطواته علي طريق اصلاح حاله!!!!! يا جماعة :الله جل جلاله يحب هذه البلد فاحبوها من اجله سبحانه وتعالي وثقوا انه بمشيذته جل جلاله آخذ بايدينا الي صلاح الحال

Proud, stunned, optimistic & in awe

Landing at Heathrow last Wednesday I was overwhelmed with so many mixed feelings. The news that our ex president was detained under investigation and so were his sons was simply stunning. The fact that I was on my first trip out of Egypt since the revolution had me in anticipation of how I would be received after being reborn.... So much has been happening in such a short period; there hasn't been a day without an incident and news that simply bewildered each and everyone of us. I tried to apply some brakes to my ever bustling mind with no avail; so I started minimizing my thoughts to words that would be most descriptive of what we have been going through.... The exercise resulted in the following key words:

Proud: "feeling pleasure or satisfaction over something regarded ashighly honorable or creditable to oneself (often followed byof,  an infinitive, or a clause)"


How can anyone who is Egyptian not be proud of the feat we have attained. Generations have come and gone without making a stand like the one we made. And to those who still criticize Egyptians for being ignorant or not being civilized or being a majority of thugs and hooligans I ask them to step aside take a long breath and listen to how the outside world views us. Read history and try to match our revolution with a whiter or purer one. And it isn't by cleaning up Tahrir on the 12th by the way but it is about how we have been handling ourselves. I am talking about a country  that has been policing itself for almost 2 months with a minimal rise in crime rates (and yes it is minimal we are just worried because of what we are not used to). And even the foes of the revolution have been handled with professionalism and although some times intimidating a lot of dignity. How can a nation that is so well handling itself be written off by some as useless or ignorant? We are living history and being listed in its front pages. If there is a definition or a description for being proud we, the Egyptians now depict it.


Stunned:  to shock; overwhelm: The world was stunned by theattempted assassination.


At the news that the ex president was detained pending investigations. I challenge all of you if anyone predicted that happening and so swiftly. Again we do not have it in us to be another Romania in how they handled Ceausescu (hope it is the correct spelling). This is Egypt and we do things differently, we do it the Egyptian way. As all of mainstream Egypt I have very mixed feelings about this, oscillating like a pendulum from sympathy to relief that justice will prevail. I am totally against both extremes though: I hate the gloating and those who are jubilant over his arrest and on the other side the die-harders for the old regime who are trying to have us all feel guilty about his demise. My vote is we handle him with a lot of dignity and have justice take its due course. And while this course is being pursued we should all set aside our prejudices and refrain from passing judgement ourselves. This is a revolution that has chosen to take legitimate routes in all its actions; let us all fight for that and make sure the law prevails. We are a nation with an abundance of faith so let us continue our unshaken trust in God and believe that with His guidance this chapter will be put to the righteous end. My belief is that all of those being tried will get what they deserve and that God acts in his own ways; we are just here to do our part and the rest should be left to Him.


Optimistic:  disposed to take a favorable view of events or conditionsand to expect the most favorable outcome


Obama used the motto "yes we can" but we bettered that to "yes we did and will continue doing". There is no uncertainty here. Look at what we have achieved: deposed a president, put to bed a lousy constitution, cleansing a very corrupt system on a daily basis, trying those who inflicted harm on the masses and the list goes on. Yes there is still a lot of unfinished work but once again take the time to evaluate our performance and in such a short period (surprise! surprise!: 2 months actually is not a long time {that's to the skeptical ones reading this}). That does not mean we should sit back and relax yet.; but rather it calls for more focusing and scrutiny for what is to come to make sure our performance remains intact. To be involved and active rather than being cynical and negative. The breaking news to those still in doubt is that the revolution happened and there is no going back and even to those of you who see it as a nightmare I ask you to wake up from your slumber and become proactive. Even if you oppose what is happening raise your voice and make it heard. Egypt needs all of us and each of us will count in the shaping of the future so let us all rise to the occasion and act now.


Awe:an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear,etc., produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremelypowerful, or the like


I will not stop at the bravehearts revolutionaries for long as there are not enough words to pay them credit and tribute. 
But first I would like to salute our army and the military council. Yes they had us wondering at certain points time and we questioned their pace. But in hindsight they steered it very well and even with the slight negatives that may have shown; they have delivered with style. A quick reminder for those with a short memory: 1971 Constitution is dead; we have a prime minister chosen by the people (yes the revolutionaries are the people since they had the guts to stand up and accept that please until further notice!), all the icons of the old regime are being investigated ( the ones who really count at least and so far!!) and we are on the way of regaining our sought normality. And the best part is that the military council was quoted saying that "they are managing the interim period and not governing Egypt"
We also need to salute our newborn politicians for their pragmatic and professional approach. I cannot hear the old style screams or the unnecessary rhetoric. Instead I hear a lot of sense being preached; agree with them or not they are trying to be heard in a more subtle and intelligent way. This is how it needs to be done. While my champion is Dr. Baradei I respect Moussa, Sabahy, Bastaweesy and the rest on how they are trying to speak to your minds. Apart from the MB who seem to wake up with a bigger appetite every morning we seem to be paving a sound road to our well earned democracy and we owe it to those who are leading the forging of this road to support their endeavours.


The tunnel is very well lit and at its end is a new dawn that is very shiny. Let us have faith and actively make sure that our worst fears shall not come to be by the power of us "the very PROUD people of Egypt"

يعني ايه ليبرالية يا باشا؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟

هذا المقال كتبته ونشرته في ١٠/٤/٢٠١١

اسبوع ملئ بالاحداث جعلتني لا اتوقف عن التفكير. وانا احاول ان اكتب هذه الافكار بذلت مجهودا ان اربطها ببعضها ولكني لم اجد رابط معين فكان ان 

قررت ان اسردها طبقا لتزامن وقوعها

"يعني ايه ليبرالية يا باشا" 

كان هذا هو السؤال الذي وجهه الي السائق حين سمعني اناقش صديق لي علي الهاتف بخصوص الاحزاب الجديدة. حين بدأت افكر في الاجابة المناسبة لأجيبه تواردت علي المعلومات التي اتخمت بها رأسي عن الليبرالية بدءا من جون لوك ابو الليبرالية مرورا بالنداءات الليبرالية التي تملأ مصرنا هذه الايام. وجدت نفسي اشرح له ان الليبرالية هي احدي التحسينات التي ادخلت علي الديموقراطية لكي يكون هناك ضمانات للاقليات ضد جور الاغلبية حتي وان كانت الاخيرة منتخبة.  شرحت له ان اصل الكلمة معناها الحرية وانها مرتبطة في الاساس بحرية الفرد الذي يولد حرا ولا يعطي هذه الحرية لأنها حق اصيل لا يؤخذ ولا يعطي. شرحت له ان هذه الحرية معطاة للجميع في جميع الاديان السماوية وان الاسلام بالذات دين حرية وان نزوله كان علي مجتمع جائر به عبودية وان هذا المجتمع حرره نزول الاسلام. كنت احاول ان ارد دون ان يسأل عن السبب في تكفير البعض لليبرالية ان كانت هي دعوة لحرية شرعتها واكدتها الاديان السماوية. حين انتهيت من شرحي يدأت افكر لما يكفر البعض الليبرالية وما هي السلبيات التي يرونها فيها. وجدت ان التخوف الاساسي لهؤلاء هو الحد الذي ممكن ان تصل اليه التطبيقات الليبرالية او بمعني اخر الحرية الزائدة عن الحد للفرد: تخوفهم مثلا من ان نصبح مجتمع يقنن الشذوذ الجنسي مثلما هو الحال في الغرب او مجتمع يقر الاجهاض او غيره مما لا يتسق مع مثلنا وانا هنا اتكلم عن مثل مصر المسلمة والمسيحية التي في اخر الامر لا تختلف في هذه الامور. كم من عائلة قبطية هاجرت ثم عادت حين كبرت البنات ووصلوا لسن الخطر وكم عائلة مسلمة كانت معهم علي نفس طائرة العودة ولنفس الاسباب. اذا فانا اظن ان اكثرنا مناداة بالليبرالية لا يريدها بأي حال من الاحوال مطلقة بل يريدها حامية لحقوق الفرد دون تطرف لهذه الحقوق. حينذاك قررت ان ابدأ في استقراء برامج الاحزاب "الليبرالية " التي بدأت في الاعلان عن نفسها مثل الحزب الديقراطي الاجتماعي وحزب المصريين الاحرار والاحزاب الاقدم مثل الوفد والغد.... وجدت ان مجموعة البرامج في منتهي التشابه وان لم اجد في ايهم طرح مباشر في تطبيق نموذج مصري لليبرالية. ولعل هذه نقطة نحتاج ان يتطرقوا لها وان يحدثونا الي اي مدي ينوون فتح سقف الحريات. الاغرب ان اثناء بحثي راحعت برامج حزبي الوسط والعدالة والحرية (احزاب الاخوان) فوجدتها شبه متطابقة مع برامج الاحزاب السابقة في دعواهم لدعم الحريات الفردية والمجتمعية بل ان الاشارة للاسلام في برامجهم شديد العمومية ولا يتعدي ذكر كلمة الاسلام او مشتقاتها اكثر من ثلاث مرات في كل برنامج ان لم اخطئ. غالبا لجأوا لذلك كي يجاز الحزب حين يعرضوا علي لجنة الاحزاب او لكي يوسعوا دائرة معجبيهم ويجهزوا الحجة لمن يناقشهم ممن يعارضوهم بانهم دعاة حرية مثلهم! هنا استوقفني شكي في اغراضهم؟ تفكرت فوجدتهم سبب هذا الشك المستمر بتقلب مواقفهم الدائم والصفقات التي نسمع انهم دائمي ابرامها ولكني توصلت اننا لا يجب ان نرفض ما يقولون لأنهم قائليه بل يجب ان نسمع وان نستمر متيقظين لنواياهم وان نواكبهم فيما يتفق ويتسق مع ما نراه فيه مصلحة الوطن تماما كما دعي صديقي الدكتور ناصر جمال لأن نتحاور جميعا وان نسمع بعضنا. ابن اخي نبهني الي انه درس في احد كورسات العلوم السياسية في امريكا ان الحوار السياسي المجتمعي  في اغلبيته (٨٠٪ منه او اكثر) مثل الرسم البياني علي شكل جرس

ولكن الاصوات الاعلي هي اصوات اقصي اليمين واقصي اليسار  التي تستمر في الصياح حتى نخالها غالبة. نحن في حاجة شديدة لأن

١. نسمع بعضنا

٢. نسمع كل الاصوات حتي وان لم يعجبنا مصدرها

٣. ان لا نخاف من تبني رأي حتي ان كات قائله من ليس في صفنا

٤. والاهم بالنسبة لي هو حاجتنا الشديدة الي تمصير ما ندعو اليه. لا يجب ان نأخذ الشئ الذي ندعي اليه علي شاكلته. وعلي فكرة هذا ينطبق في الاتجاهين فلا نحن بحاجة لافكار شديدة الغربية من امريكا ولا نحن في حاجة لافكار وهابية من السعودية: نحن في

حاجة لافكار مصرية الهوية والمضمون

 ان تاريخ الثورات والشعوب يشير ان الانتخابات القادمة لن تفرز جبهة ذات اغلبية واننا سنحتاج حكومة وحدة وطنية تكون نتاج حوار وطنى علينا ان نبدأه من الان من واقع تقبل لجميع القوى الوسطية

ثم جاء خبر تحويل عدة من اساطين النظام الي سجن المزرعة ليثلج صدري فاعتراني الفرح كطفل صغير ومع الفرح كان كثير من التشفي (ولست آسف علي هذا) و مع توارد الاخبار بدأت التساؤلات والتعليقات من جديد:

١. هو كل اربعاء وخميس يعطونا كبش؟ والاحابة بسيطة ولما لا طالما نحصل علي ما نريد

٢. ولكنهم محبوسون للكسب غير المشروع؟ مبدئيا هم محبوسون وقد تكون هذه خطة الجيش ان يتم حبسهم حتي ننتخب الرئيس والحكومة التي تسن لهم قوانين المحاسبة علي الفساد السياسي وتعاقبهم عليه. ليست مهمة الجيش الان التشريع الجديد لانهم ان حاولوا ستختلف الاراء. ربما يكون هذا تفكيرهم وربما علينا قبوله . ان سجن رموز الفساد لاي سبب انتصار وهم من كان لا ضابط

لهم منذ اقل من شهرين ام نسيتم انها كانت اسماء نخاف انتقادها بصوت عال

٣. ثم اننا ان اردنا السرعة كان من الممكن ان نذهب الي منازل هؤلاء ونجرجرهم علي سلالمها ونمثل بهم مثل ثورات الرعاع ولكننا اخترنا ان نكون ثائرين متحضرين فاختلفنا  فى اجواء حرة واستفتينا علي الدستور واخترنا ان نسير بالطرق القانونية ولنذكر كم عانينا جميعا من محاكم ثورة عبد الناصر ورفاقه

٤. نعم هناك تأخير لا يستطيع الجيش نفسه انكاره ولكنه تأخير لأن المواقف تتغير ولأن الحسابات تميل ناحية رغباتنا نتيجة صلابة

موقفنا واصرارنا. اظنهم كانوا يخططون انهم سيستطيعون تسيير الدفة وتمرير بعض الامور بطريقة معينة ثم حعلناهم يكتشفوا اننا نريد الامور علي شاكلة اخري فهاهم يصلحون المسار: ببطء ولكن في الاتجاه الذي نريده

الجيش الجيش الجيش: هذا هو الهاجس المسيطر علي كل الافكار طوال الاسبوع. سأقتبس من الدكتور معتز عبد الرحمن حين قال ان الجيش هو حاليا هو اخر عامود قائم في بيت آيل للسقوط... فاسألكم الان من يريد هدم البيت علي رأسنا؟ اين كان الضابط المقيم في النرويج وفيديوهاته منذ بدء الثورة ولماذا لم يراسلنا الضابط شريف من تكساس قبل الان؟هل نحن في حاجة الي ادخال الجيش في صراع... هو جزء من المشهد دون شك ولكن الذكاء ان لا نجعله طرفا قدر الامكان. ان الجيش بطبيعته ميني علي سياسة ضبط وربط دون مناقشة ولكننا نجحنا في ان نجعله يستمع ويستجيب وهذا ما يجب ان نستمر فيه. ولكن الجيش ان سكت علي ان يظهر ضباط بلباس عسكري في مظاهرة فلنقل علي البلد السلام وقبل ان تنتقدوا مااقول ردوا علي الاتي: اين جاويش الحيش الامريكي الذي سرب وثائق الويكيليكس التي سلتنا وملأت اوقات فراغنا الاشهر الماضية: نعم!!!! في السجن العسكري في بلد الحريات امريكا!!!  و ذلك لأنه خالف القانون العسكري

اخطأ المعتصمين مرتين

١. حين اعتصموا.. ولماذا لا نستطيع ان نقف عند حد معين في الرسالة التي نبغي ارسالها؟

٢. واخطأوا مرة ثانية حين التفوا حوال الضباط المعتصمين رافضين تسليمهم. اتحفنا احد شباب الثورة (الذين انتقدهم هنا لأول مرة )بأنهم كانوا ضد الاعتصام ولكنهم قرروروا الاعتصام من باب الجدعنة والشهامة... هذا يدخل تحت بند السذاجة ولا يمت بصلة للسياسة التي نريدهم ان يتولوا قيادتنا فيها ؛ من قادونا للحرية يجب ان يكونوا اعمق فكرا من هذا. ثم اسألهم ان ينقوا طلباتهم في ضوء نتيجة الاستفتاء لأننا لا نستطيع الان ان نطالب بما طالب  به من قالوا لا (وانا افخر ان كنت منهم) لأن الديموقراطية لاتسمح بهذا ييجب ان نكرس طلباتنا فيما لم نستفت عليه: فلا مجلس رئاسي ولا تعديل في اعلان دستوري  

حين تتوالي الاخطاء من طرف لابد ان يفقد الطرف الاخر كياسته ويبدأ في الخطأ؛ هذه قوانين خناقات الشوارع. ان الضغط علي الجيش مطلوب ويجب ان يستمر ولكن دون المواجهة؛ ليس خوفا من العنف فالجيش المصري لن يكون عنيفا عن عمد مع شعبه ولكن درءا لعناد ومواقف يصعب حلها و تقف الكرامة والكبرياء دون حدوث تنازلات من اجل تسيير الامور. علي كل من يجد في نفسه ثائرا ان يتذكر ان الشعب كله ليسوا ثوار وان بيننا من هو ليس مرتاحا وبيننا من هو ملتاعا واننا يجب ان نأخذهم في الاعتبار حين نتحرك ونفعل  اننا في

مرحلة حوار وسياسة وتفاوض ولسنا بحاجة الي مواجهات لم ندعي اليها

في وسط هذا وذاك قررت الجماعة الاسلامية (مغتالي السادات كي لاننسي) ان تقيم اجتماعها في الاقصر بجانب ضريح ووسط اثار الكفرة لتعلن نبذها للعنف وانها تشجع السياحة ...ياسلام وعجبي وتحيا مصر التي لن تكف عن مفاجأتنا دائما... بعدها بقليل اعلن الدكتور عصام العريان ان الاخوان يريدون دولة مدنية!!!! طيب هو احنا مختلفين علي ايه؟ تذكرت الداعية الاسلامي معز مسعود وهو يقول ان اغلبية السيدات الغير محجبات ٩٠٪   منهم باحتشامهم في حكم المحجبات اصلا الا شعرهم... يبدو اننا جميعا متفقين فيما نريد بنسبة ٩٠٪ ايضا ان خلصت النفوس... افلحوا ان صدقوا

  

الفكرة الاخيرة وسأكون موجزا تبدأ من الطرح بأن التغيير اصعب من التأكيد و التمسك بالموجود: كلامي هذا بالاشارة الي المادة الثانية للدستور التي اري في رأي المتواضع انها لن تتغير وان كنت اري انها يجب ان يضاف اليها ان لاصحاب الديانات الاخري الرجوع الي شرائعهم فيما يخصهم. ولكن هذه المادة ليست موضوعي هنا بل موضوعي هو المادة الثالثة التي تنص علي

السيادة للشعب وحده، وهو مصدر السلطات، ويمارس الشعب هذه السيادة ويحميها، ويصون الوحدة الوطنية على الوجه المبين فى 

الدستور

في رأي المتواضع ان هذه المادة هي ما يجب ان نكافح من اجلها وان نرفض ان تتغير بأي شكل من الاشكال

My Road Back to Optimism

This is a post that was written & published on the 4th of April 2011

From the climax of voting in the referendum I rapidly moved into a state of depression that overtook me for over 2 weeks. I believe other people went through a similar phase and I can claim some are still there. Too many questions unanswered and too many obvious steps not taken. I could not attribute my depression to the result of the referendum because I had promised myself to act as a civilized person in a democracy and accept the majority vote (that is usually a very tough commitment for a very sore and bad loser like me). Why was I being taken over by those depressing feelings when having lived the revolution and seen a regime I loathed topple I had thought it can never be worse and I can only be optimistic.

Were the following reasons/observations the reason?

 1.   General slowness and lack of action from the Military Council?

 2.    The general rise of anti revolution sentiment and the higher share of voice of those who longed for the pre 25 January status quo to be back?

 3.   The fact that the 3 musketeers/stooges (Sherif, Sorrour & Azmy) were still at large and living happily ever after?

 4.   Why did we vote when we ended up with a constitutional declaration anyway; were we being played?

 5.   Why have the editors of Ahram and the other national newspapers been kept for so long?

 6.   Where were the rest of the million protestors I am used to see in Tahrir last Friday? Why have they not shown up?

 7.   And finally the ugly scene we all witnessed in the infamous Zamalek match?

All reasons for depression; right? And all lead to an ugly thought:

We seem to have been robbed from our revolution!!! And it all plays in tune with the grand picture of the “conspiracy theory” we all seem to religiously believe in these days. Whoever he may be and wherever he is the “puppet master” seems to be doing a perfect job and he is heading full speed towards achieving his goals!!

But I started pulling back on the positivity I learnt from Tahrir and how the young men and woman who stood there had taught me not to give up at every turn. Cause had they allowed themselves this they would have gone home after the first second or even the third “feeling less” speeches of the ex- president. Well then here is an assessment I wish to share may be it would help others suffering from what I have now got over:

1. Yes the military council is slow. Basically because these are extremely difficult times and they cannot be rash or our reasons for depression would be worse and a lot more injuring. They are also not political by default and therefore are taking more time than expected from us (with revolution pumping in our veins) to deliver what we see as the obvious. And you know what they may be covering some tracks as part of some sort of a deal they had to made on their way to protecting this revolution and making it achieve its primary goals. A small price to be paid for a bigger achievement.

 2. We asked for freedom and democracy so we cannot really ask for certain voices to be shut up now. That is part of the ticket price. They (the Mary Antoinette’s with a severe case of Stockholm/Mustafa Mahmud syndrome) are very easily put to rest though; not by yelling back at them but by simply showing them and walking them through the atrocities their preferred regime had us live under. Just put their arguments to shame and their voices start faltering. Once you see it this way it becomes an elevating rather than depressing option to hear them because one can just confirm and believe more how right this revolution is (not was!!!!!!!).

 3. I couldn’t find a logic why the 3 stooges are left free till now so I won’t require any applause from any readers of this note on this one. However as we proceed I now firmly believe they won’t enjoy their freedom for long. They may not be caught on what we wish them to be locked up for but I think they will be paying some dues soon.

 4.Why the referendum? Why the 50% farmers and laborers in the new constitutional declaration? Why? Why? Why? One thing that dawned on me here was the fact that those posing the “Why’s” above were mostly from the adamant “NO” voters and advocates! Hold on there for a minute: wasn’t one of our (the NO’s) basic demands that a constitutional declaration be made? Well guys and gals; it is done: why are we sulking? Oh yes because they left the 50% clause in there. Well imagine they took it out; a right (right or wrong) given to the majority of Egyptians (systematically misused I agree) is taken out at this interim period; may be it would have intimidated others among a more silent portion of the population. Is it the time for intimidation? Are we now giving the military council the right to rule and make changes we need to ponder on when we want them quickly back to their barracks? Are we being Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Are we considering our opinions should prevail because we know better; isn’t that as patronizing as the regime we threw away?

 You know what on the final count and to my books both the Yes’s and No’s got their way. And you know what is even better we got it through a very civilized referendum that made us all very proud. Presidential council; we have a similar mechanism called the military council instead that anyway rids us from the burden of choosing who is on the presidential council. May be we should just focus our energy on making sure they listen to our needs and demands. And may be also give them some space to work.

 5.They eventually changed the editors and it is heart warming not to have to wake up to Ossama Saraya and the gang’s names and opinions. A bit delayed but well done finally cause having checked with a lot of reporters I know they all cheer the new choices and agree they are all good men (sorry ladies!!). And that was soon followed by the change in state TV management. So I guess better late than never and now that it is done I don’t want to worry about why there was a delay. I just want to enjoy the fact that we won’t see the likes of Tamer Amin, Saraya and Qut (the akhbar cat) for the time to come.

 6.Walking into Tahrir last Friday I was hoping to reenergize and actually re-live the days of the revolution. I sort of needed that but unfortunately the numbers that showed up hit me: about 250000 to 300000 stood with me. Greed had me lament the poor showing when these numbers were a mere dream on the 24th of January 2011!!!!!

Walking out I thought it was a bit premature to call for it in the first place. We need to find better channels now to have our voices heard. We need to save and savor Tahrir for when it is really needed. We cannot dilute it and we cannot allow Shafiq be vanquished by Tahrir becoming a Hyde Park. May be that the million threshold was not reached because we have become a bit pompous and vain being sure every time a call for a million is made they will show up. In the US it took them a year to organize the million freedom march and they came short of it according to some. In Egypt we have done multi million people marches and stands several times in 18 days or less

 7.Then came the Zamalek match (and am keeping my Ahly sentiments out of the formula). I claim I know the sports business and I am a veteran spectator at the Cairo stadium. Having established that I can categorically tell you that this would not have happened without help. It is almost impossible to raid the pitch in Cairo stadium without a helping hand… STOP…. That’s conspiracy theory again. Let me tell you instead what I saw on that day: I saw 3 to 5 thousand people on the pitch a lot of them trying to take pictures with their players or even memorabilia (yes being a football fan is sometimes a synonym for moron!!!!). But you know what I think I am the only one to see what I believe none of you saw: I saw 35000 decent fans stay in their places and not join the fanfare. I saw those 35000 go home ashamed of what they have witnessed. Have you noticed that? Well my anti- revolution friends these are the majority of Egypt and Egyptians: decent and shameful when need be. So please spare us the rhetoric of “it is no use” and that Egyptians are simply all “thugs”. We are not; and we will not be. We are going through growing pains and we need to hold on tight because we will come through.

My depression became a memory when Dr. Yehia Al Gamal was removed from leading the “national debate”; you know why: because as part of change the revolution has now introduced “accountability” to our dictionary. Feels good doesn’t it!!! And I have nothing but respect for the old wise Dr. Gamal but he screwed up in choosing to invite ex NDP secretary general and suggesting reconcilation with old regime as a point on the agenda!!! He screwed up and paid for his mistake: welcome to post revolution Egypt.

Here is what I would love to end up this note with: yesterday I met an upper class highly educated Copt who is lobbying with a group of Copts of similar background about joining the Muslim Brotherhood party. Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!! How smart and creative and liberal and secular (all the magic words) is that? If he succeeds he wishes to be part in joining forces with them and at least pitching into shaping their ideology and approaches in a more favorable way. You know what I think; the MB will give them a hero’s welcome and will put them forward in the ranks. Welcome to the real Egypt.

I am totally positive and over energized; Egypt will do well. Let us keep the faith and work hard and with heart towards a nation we are proud of and love so much.
