What can we tell our KIDS?

Warning: I publish this post at the risk of being tagged naive & a "menacing" optimist : I Don't mind one little bit!!!

“The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

Robert Frost in his poem opted not to take the orthodox conventional route and therefore had something to tell his kids and generations to follow.

During the great & glorious 18 days of the revolution each and everyone of us who sided with its call made the same choice Frost made in his poem. We all tilted towards a more just cause while dreaming for a better Egypt but in an "unorthodox/conventional" way. We not only dreamt but we actually saw and almost touched the better Egypt we wished for. And all for very rightful reasons.

Since then we have been bombarded and blemished by incidents that have had some of us already cursing the day or longing for what they soberly despised. Humanly that is logical and understood given the threat to the livelihood posed by those with varying ideologies that are, to say the least, fearful & scary to those of us who simply yearn for a just smooth life in a land they so cherish and treasure.

The questions I pose : Should we give up on the dream and seek the comfort of a system we despise? Should we run back into the comfort & protection of injustice as we fight the demons of the unknown?

And if we do; what shall we tell our kids? That we gave up and we did not have stamina to fight for what is right? Don't we preach them continuously about putting a fight and making a stand for what they believe and what they know is right?

Think of this : how hard and how far do you wish your kids to fight for what is right?

When you have the answer; dust your desperation off and put up the fight yourself. Don't let go of the dream you so relished and indulged in : the dream of a great Egypt. Not yet anyway!!!

We have started a route; we knew when we started it that it was unorthodox for that's what a revolution is about: changing the conventional. We cannot simply let go and reverse on what we know is ethical & just.

Those who relish and benefit from the noxious establishment that we are attempting to topple and their clowns will bombard us in an attempt to keep us at bay and succumb to their chosen ways. And they will fight fiercely to protect what they have gained over the years in privileges and deep rooted supremacy; for again who would give up any of that willingly?

We may be isolated and few at times but we have to stay sober & act wisely against all the threats we face daily. We need to fend against the ignorance that is trying to pull us back to darker ages. A lot of mistakes occurred en route that have tarnished the path but as humans we are built to evolve and learn from our mistakes. In no way are we to follow blindly into traps set for us by forces that are, to say the least, opportunist and seeking only their selfish benefits. In no way is this a call to advocate acts that are both random and can only favour those who have agendas that can only take Egypt into oblivion. That should be our quest and of that we can never let go.

The least we can do is to stand for our beliefs; particularly if those beliefs are righteous & for the good of our country. If we don't; then shame is only on US and I really fail to see:

WHAT CAN WE POSSIBLY TELL OUR KIDS ?

Egypt will prevail ; have no doubts     :-)
